Cram the Cab nets $2,200 for food pantry

A total of $2,200 was raised at this year’s Greene County Farm Bureau’s Cram the Cab event held Aug. 31 – Sept. 7 at the Jefferson Fareway store.

The $2,200 total represents a combination of Fareway customers who purchased pre-packed bags of non-perishable food items, customers who rounded up their grocery bill at the cash registers, and also cash donations from Rueter’s Equipment, Greene County Farm Bureau Financial Services agents Kim Tjepkes and Damon Clancy, and the county Farm Bureau.

Last week Greene county board members John McCormick and Perry Parker, Nate Nelson of Fareway, and Kye Cross of Rueters Equipment delivered more than 60 grocery bags filled with non-perishable food items that had been purchased.  Greene County Christian Action Resource Center director Shirley Haupert was also presented with several checks representing the cash portion of the donation.

Greene County Farm Bureau thanked everyone who had a role in making this year’s Cram the Cab event so successful.
